Created by Manchester Art Gallery and the poet Flick Goodman, this activity prompts students to explore the story, speeches and language of Sarah Parker Remond, an American lecturer, activist and abolitionist campaigner. Following her lead, pupils must outline their ideal society, before transferring their visions into poetic verse and presenting them to the class.
CAUTION: The video features the use of a racist term in the context that it was used in the 1850s, which some viewers may find distressing.
