In the School of Creativity space on the mezzanine you will be able to see poems, photographs and artwork made by young people over the previous year of lockdowns.

A collection of wallpapers created by pupils at the Manchester College and inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement will form a background to the display and will be going on to tour Manchester schools.

You will also be able to watch a series of videos created in our partnerships with Henshaws, the Whitworth art gallery and the National Football Museum.

Your City, Your Culture

The 7-point-call-to-action written by MADE’s Creative Influencers and illustrated by local artist Molly O’Donoghue at the Whitworth.

The display features a Manifesto created by MADE’s 15–21-year-old group of Creative Influencers, illustrated by local artist Molly O’Donoghue.

The group spent some time reflecting on their shared anxieties about the re-opening of culture in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite enjoying visiting cultural venues, they feared feeling like ‘impostors’ in elitist environments.

Their 7-point call-to-action encourages other young people to overcome their reservations and anxieties and visit Manchester’s cultural venues.

The Manifesto has also been turned into a web-resource so that teachers can use it in the build-up to weekends/half terms, and encourage their pupils to get out into the city and see some culture. You can see the resource here.

Come and visit!

The display is now open! If you drop by, let us know on Twitter or Instagram. We’d love to hear what you think.
